Vauxhall Corsa VXR - M32 Gearbox Oil Change
Переглядів 4,6 тис.Рік тому
This is a 2013 Corsa VXR with the generation 2 M32 gearbox. A short video on how the gear oil is replaced. Generation 1 box has a level / fill plug on the side and is 2.2 litres but it is recommended to increase to 2.5 litres Generation 2 box does not have a level / fill plug and is 2.2 litres. 2.2 litres is fine for this box as the end casing has improved oil flow guides.

Mercedes SLK 230 1998 - Boot Won't Close And Roof Won't Open
I finally got the sump plug to undo the garage must have way over tightened it last time and then I've had a nightmare with the oil filter housing I couldn't do it before draining so I thought I'll come back to that after and then it was also on too tight as now I've snapped the oil filter housing so another £30 down the drain and now to try remove the remains of the housing I'll do that when the new housing arrives
God help us another expert who didn't bother to learn about his subject.....
Yes, good stuff thank you....S & L'd
Is there hatch in the undertray for accessing the oil drain plug? And a hatch for the oil filter? I'd have though all modern cars would have these, to make oil changes easier?
So there is no need for timing because one of the machanic said to me "you can't do it yourself because of timing after replacement of the seal". The way I look on this video there is no need for timing which I can now do it my self?
This job can easily be done at home and you do not interfere with the timing at all Andy 👨🏼🔧
Well this looks no fun whatsoever. Thanks for the vid
It’s not too bad and once you have done it once it is much easier. Andy 👨🏼🔧
Hi, my Vauxhall Meriva B still has code 22, even though I did change the bulb, and the light is working now. Anything else I need to reset?
If you still have the code then you still have the fault. Either the first or second element of the bulb isn’t working or you have the wrong / cheap bulb fitted and the resistance is incorrect or a fault on the opposite side Andy 👨🏼🔧
On a zafira a model would the timing belt need taking off
Yes it would buddy Andy 👨🏼🔧
@@AMSVauxhall thanks matey
I’ve spent a fortune trying to fix a knocking on my daughter’s corsa! New top mounts, struts, shocks, link arms, track rods!!! Garage said probably steering rack or column! Stumbled across your video. Got myself some torx sockets and 20 minutes of work and job done 👍. 18 months of hell 😆. Thanks for this awesome video
Nice one buddy! Glad you got it sorted ☺️ Andy👨🏼🔧
Thnaks for the video. Great to have just bird song in the background and not crappy music. Info on torques and oil a real bonus.
crusty little t4....
Thanks so much for this great video. Much appreciated
Thanks for watching buddy! Andy 👨🏼🔧
Hi mate 09 corsa Vxr are they gen 1 or gen 2 boxes?
gen 1
used to paint under mine with used oil . messy job
Can you please tell me what type of Cambio automatic/dualogic lubrificant use the 500 Twinair 86ps 2012?thnx
Is ther a way of changing the rubber boot or the foam seal on brake pedal push rod side.. Mine keeps hissing sprayd oil grease at it stopped but come back tap pedal stopes then comes back. Obviously worn seal?
As the Twinair uses the engine oil as part of the hydraulic tappet control for the inlet valves the oil viscosity has an effect on the operation of the inlet valves and the fuel mixture. In order to allow for the change in oil viscosity after an oil change the ECU controlling the tappets has to adapt to the new viscosity. There is a service function called "Oil Change Reset" that is initiated using equipment plugged into the OBD2 port. I believe this resets the values in the ECU allowing the unit to adapt to the viscosity of the new oil (it may even trigger a learn mode). I have done half a dozen oil changes without doing this and had no trouble however I believe others have had problems with MOT emissions soon after an oil change. I recently carried out this procedure and found that while the option existed on my OBD2 scanner it would not actually wok. I got out the laptop and used multiscan to successfully complete this procedure. I also believe the Twinair engines are sensitive to the type of oil due to the hydraulic tappet control but I have used the correct viscosity Castrol oil with no problem (55000 Miles, 2011 reg). If you cannot do the oil change reset you might wait until after an MOT before changing the oil. That way the system will have time to adjust even though a reset hasn't been carried out. Worth considering.
Why 5w-40 and not 5w-30?
I have the same fault on my ford focus 1.5 tdci but mine is the automatic one, it showing the same fault a long with traction light on and and the gearbox playing up, do you thing they are all related as they all shows at the same time.
Whereabouts is the boot locking motor? Can't get it to work with the central locking the key doesn't work I don't know if it's not the right lock or it's just seized the mechanism seems okay the cable to it the yellow one I can't see where that goes to?
Was there present of sluggish materials in the reservoir tank?
No that is likely to be a failed oil cooler seals Andy 👨🏼🔧
How tight do you know the tension belt needs to be?
It’s an automatic tensioner
Hi Andy. I have a Corsa vxr Nurburgring 2013 plate will this be a generation 1 or 2 box? Cheers
hi mate, got a 12 plate burg these are gen 2 boxes
Very good video, thank you for the guide. I have bought car ramps from Halford and only have two.. My locking nut key is broken so can't really take the wheels off. Can I bleed the front first (full fluid replacement), close the reservoir, start the car so I can drive backwards on the ramps and then bleed the back ? Many thanks
Yes there is no reason why you can’t bleed the front and then turn car around. Andy 👨🏼🔧
Sorry Andy, did you mean there is no reason ?😜😅
@@dawidd8855 I did! 😂🤦🏻♂️
Thank you Andy ! Have a good one 👍👍
Hi. What is the paste you used after cleaning the wiring of the headlights ? Thanks .
That was just lithium grease as it’s all I had at the time and I knew I was going to be going through deep water soon after but use proper dielectric grease rather than lithium Andy👨🏼🔧
Think I may replace my wife's for the rear gas absorbers. Does it drive better?
Wasn’t really an issue with the shock absorber itself but the bushes at the top had failed which cause a horrendous loud knocking noise when driving Andy 👨🏼🔧
Great job 👍👍👍👍
Teşekkürler
Hello, it's hard job to get it out of there! On LHD vehicle it's much easy. 😀
Loved to watch your full video mini series! Im working on a genuine astra mk4 estate opc. Are there new videos coming up? As they are very helpfull!
Thanks buddy! This Astra has now been bought by someone else as I never used it but if you need help with anything give me a shout. Andy👨🏼🔧
Excellent video. A breath of fresh air compared to the badly shot nonsense with commentary telling you the makers life story to a bad heavy metal soundtrack. Informative and competent.
Thanks man! 😊
Is there any way to fix the rear roof cylinder without removing completely? Also, reverse lights just stopped working. Any idea how to access the the gear shifter assembly to replace the switch or fix connections?
Which roof cylinder are you referring to buddy? As for reverse lights, I take it you have tested the bulb and then for power? If after that you suspect the reverse switch on gearbox, it will be accessed from underneath the car on the gearbox Andy 👨🏼🔧
The cylinder is the one behind the passenger seat that you can see from the trunk. It was visibly leaking from the seal. Regarding the reverse lights, I changed the bulbs and fuse, but they still wouldn't work properly. I can get them to light up, if I get the shifter in exactly the right position between "reverse" and "neutral", but they won't stay on while backing up.
@@chip0569 that’s does sound very much like a switch fault right enough
Think I'd load the suspension before tightening the shocks: not sure those rubber bushes are meant to turn in the housing.
The bushes don’t turn when torquing up but yes everything should technically be torqued up under load but at circa 70nm you will be safe enough 😉
The Meriva is the worst car I have ever owned, and this is the icing on the cake. WHY didn't they have a lock that could also be opened with a key? I'm not touching another Vauxhall
Just watched this, Thank you, I thought you might have put a towel or soft material on the bench, to pretect the badge from scratches whilst on the bench. As you can see when you have finished and closed the tailgate, the badge was badly marked.
I would be more concerned about the Timing cover Leaking oil ! 🧐
Nothing to be concerned about. It is a common fault / design flaw which is remedied by replacing the timing chain cover gasket but as that is a lot of work it’s not worth doing for all it leaks. It hasn’t got any worse in the 6 years of ownership.
Would check mine out when I get home. Thanks
I just sorted mine now. It pulled out a little bit. Thank you so much for this video xx
Hello, it's a good video! Does this engine has oil pan made of plastic?!
Thanks for watching 😊 Yes it’s plastic 😬
I would love to be able to re commission the Calibra’s , one of my favourite Vauxhall’s .
This is the best video for this task that I have seen. Very clear to follow and apply to the job. Thank you.
Are there two sump gaskets, 1 upper and 1 lower? Is it hard to remove the sump?
No. There are no sump gaskets. It’s is a silicone sealant Andy👨🏼🔧
Takk!
Very useful video, especially the bit about how to get rid of the 'insp' on the dashboard display. Been wondering how to get rid of that for years. Thanks a lot
Very useful. Thank You.
Where can I get one of those ‘O’ ring sets?
Pick them up on eBay / Amazon east enough buddy
my friend i have (opel meriva b 1.4 turbo) 2012 with 6 speed . i think i have gearbox (m32-6 wr) is this the same capacity of oil ? i have to put 2 liters in ?
Could you list the tools needed for a novice please
Is that a cover RATM ... much impressed... in fact the whole band!!

@@AMSVauxhall I have that side of things covered thanks, anyway not keen on beards to be fair, I am sure you are accounted for lol!!

Hi - Thanks for posting this - cold I ask a question about your scanner - does it work WITHOUT the small memory card in the slot (next to the plug in cable) my scanner has been dropped - the screen is smashed and the memory card is snapped in half - Im just wondering if it would work without it in or what infomation is on the card If it is just for storing reports etc -I could maybe use a new card and then have the screen repaired - Snap on will not touch it as it is out of warranty now Thank you
I wouldn’t think it would work without the memory card as that is what the software is loaded onto but you can anyways plug it in and see.
@@AMSVauxhall Really useful video Andy thanks for posting this. Which model of diagnostic scanner do you use and would you recommend it ? 👍
@nigelmitchell351 thanks buddy! 😊 I used a snap on Ethos for this but they are out of date now as they only go up to 2016 and the updates cost more than a new machine but if it’s only for personal use then it will plenty fine.
@@AMSVauxhall Thank you, but if you were to replace it what would you buy.?
@@nigelmitchell351 I’d probably buy the new snap on machine but I’d have a look at Bosch and Autel first.
